Assignment Brief Description
The brief was to produce a modular corridor environment based on the theme of science-fiction. With key production being in Maya and then transposed to Unreal Engine 4. The brief also noted that the level must be textured, lit and make use of PBR materials. Guidance was also given to create props that break the modulation of the level and realistic implementations such as locked doors giving a feel that the player was in a corridor to a bigger complex. If locked doors were not present the level would feel unrealistic.
Design Choices
Initially the corridor sections was determined to have 2 meters of walk-able terrain and a metre on either side of the corridor where the walls encroached inwards creating a block for the player to use that part as a pathway. To create a more entertaining view grating was also decided to be added along the floor, covering the two meters in the middle.
However, as workflow continued this was deemed too cramped when testing the white box in Unreal Engine 4. This changed the idea from 4x4x4 to 6x6x4. The change allowed the player more freedom when walking down the corridor.

Compilation
The above image is compiled from the below pieces. Using a very small amount of models while utilizing lamberts across faces set specifically in Maya, when modelling, to create a massive variance in visuals. This allows many different tiling PBR textures to be used on the same replicated modular asset, removing restrictions on unique asset production.
